GEKA TELECOM is the main system integrator in Africa for the softswitch TECHNICOLOR CIRPACK. With this collaboration, GEKA TELECOM and TECHNICOLOR CIRPACK have successfully deployed turnkey VoIP networks for WAT in Liberia, Communitec in Benin, Mediafon in Lithuania.
The Cirpack Local Exchange Node is a comprehensive solution for launching Voice-over-IP services based on Cirpack High Velocity Softswitch (HVS) with Class-5 /IP Centrex software and customer database. The LEN is compatible with SIP and MGCP protocols to deliver primary line telephony services over broadband infrastructures of any kind and can deliver all POTS and ISDN services over v5.2 access networks and is also compatible with SIP. In addition, the Cirpack HVS supports innovative fixed-mobile convergence features for both residential and business applications.
For SIP deployments, the Cirpack LEN includes SIP Access Controller - our Access Session Border Controller (SBC) solution - to control SIP registering and secure access to the core network, while the Message Waiting Indication (MWI) application ensures that the user is notified when they have a new message on their voicemail. Full redundancy of every element is achieved through a cluster architecture of active/standby servers.
The operator can provision up 10,000 residential users and 2,500 IP Centrex on SIP, MGCP, ISDN or V5.2 access.
Managed by the Class-4 software, two PTG (Public Telephony Gateway) media gateways, each with 16 E1 interfaces, are included. The PTGs supplied are interface boards specially designed for IBM BladeCenters. Embedded DSP mezzanine are available for media processing (tones, announcements, echo cancellation, compression).
Operators can upgrade the LEN to the large model configuration version of the Cirpack platform when further subscriber capacity is required. This platform can handle several million call attempts per second (BHCA) and up to 264,000 residential subscribers, meeting operators’ demands for large and scalable voice infrastructures.
